Cat litter at Healthana includes clumping bentonite litters, crystal litters and an indicator litter, mainly from Purrify with one option from Bioline. Choose from scents such as apple, lavender, coffee, baby powder, strawberry and peach, or unscented crystals for sensitive cats and homes, in 5 L and 10 L packs.

Types of cat litter

  • Clumping bentonite – forms firm clumps you scoop out daily, so the rest of the tray stays usable
  • Bentonite & charcoal – clumping clay with added charcoal aimed at odour control
  • Crystal litter – silica crystals that soak up liquid; available unscented or lightly scented
  • Indicator litter – Bioline litter designed to change colour on contact with urine
  • Scented or unscented – some cats dislike strong fragrance, so start mild if your cat is fussy

Keeping the tray fresh

Use a layer of about 5–7 cm, scoop clumps and waste every day and replace the full tray regularly, following the pack. Plan one tray per cat plus one in multi-cat homes. When switching litter, mix the new one gradually with the old so your cat accepts it.

Frequently asked questions

Clumping or crystal litter: which should I choose?

Clumping litter is scooped as clumps and topped up, while crystal litter soaks up liquid and is changed less often. Many owners choose based on their cat's preference and how often they can clean.

Is scented litter safe for cats?

Most cats accept lightly scented litter, but some avoid strong smells. If your cat stops using the tray, try an unscented option.

Can I flush cat litter?

Clay and crystal litters should not be flushed. Bag used litter and dispose of it with household waste unless the pack says otherwise.

What is indicator litter for?

It changes colour on contact with urine as described on the pack. A change is a reason to speak to a vet, not a diagnosis.
